I always feel like I’m behind the 8 ball when it comes to Christmas gifts, but I had an epiphany the other day: you know what’s easy, cheap, quick, tasty, and pretty dang impressive with a little extra attention? Shortbread.  So for like coworkers and our mail carrier and so forth, I’m going to make a few batches of shortbread, some standard, some chocolate, and dip it in chocolate, and then top some of it with crushed peppermints and some of it with chopped nuts. I’m going into production mode today and I should be able to finish it all before the Critical Role broadcast tonight.  Fingers crossed!

Whelp I got a twitter account set up for my fandom stuff and I tried to use it today to start to get myself settled and satisfy the real-time post-and-response interaction style that I miss without tumblr, but then I got into a thread that I cared a lot about and I was posting I guess too much?  for twitter? Even though I was just replying to a thread because twitter is weird and I csn’t Have more than one complete sentence in a post so honestly what do they expect??? And anyway they froze my account because of “unusual activity” (which how could there even be any USUAL activity yet when I only made the dang thing a few hours ago) and the ap has now locked me in an endless cycle of closing the ap to launch the browser, which closes the browser to launch the ap.  So I guess I can’t twitter now.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok, so journals need content, right?  So I’m going to yell about my dumb wonderful D&D characters, so that later when I put up stories of the ridiculous things we’ve done, y’all know who I’m talking about.

So currently I’m in a 5e game that one of my buddies got around for the purposes of introducing a couple players who are brand new to D&D to the game.  In this campaign, I play Mervyn, one half of a pair of twin criminal halflings.  Mervyn and his brother Jerry (who is a PC being played by another party member) have been scamming, conning, and robbing their way across the country, gaining and burning underworld contacts along the way.

Man, reading ten-year-old writing from a project you abandoned is pretty wince-inducing.  To be fair, it probably would have been wince-inducing ten years ago when I went back to edit, had I finished a draft, but..... yikes.

Author's Notes:
This might be crap; I'm not sure. I just can't shake the feeling that Sam is wrong somehow, this season. He's stronger, more... adult seeming, certainly, and more independent, but he's also harder in a lot of ways. There's some sort of disconnect , where he doesn't seem to feel things the way he used to, or at least he doesn't act like it. I don't know, something just doesn't jibe. I think Dean sees it, too.
